The Natural Coffee Company is Accredited by the Soil Association.
Our certification number is … P8006
The Soil Association aims to provide a safe and sustainable alternative
to modern, intensive farming methods.
Incorporated in its mission are the following fundamentals :-
Food produced:
Does not use artificial chemicals, pesticides
and fertilizers.
It is environmentally friendly.
It relies on modern and scientific understanding of ecology and soil science,
while also depending on traditional methods of crop rotations to ensure
fertility and weed and pest control.

Through the umbrella organisation of the International
Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements (IFOAM) the coffee that we
receive is passed by the local organic organisation which is overseen
by IFOAM and thus covered by our local organic association (The Soil Association).
Eg. Papua New Guinea coffee from Purosa is passed by NASAA (The National
Association for Sustainable Agriculture of Australia Ltd ) which is IFOAM
accredited. Anyone handling or processing the coffee thereafter must be
accredited by an IFOAM accredited organisation.
All our coffees have certification and paperwork
which denotes complete traceablility throughout its passage to the end
user.

FAIRTRADE FOUNDATION.

The Fairtrade mark is your independent guarantee
that producers in developing countries receive a fair deal. This is the
only independent consumer label that guarantees international fairtrade
standards have been met.
Fairtrade ensures:
1. A price that covers producers’ costs
2. A premium for producers to invest in their communities - clean water,
healthcare, education and the environment.
3. Long term and direct trading relations

The certified coffee is only produced in cooperatives which can be grouped
to employ many thousands of people. With the fluctuations of the commodity
market the coffee can alter in price rapidly, but Fairtrade Coffee has
a fixed price so assuring social benefits.

SWISS WATER PROCESS DECAFFEINATION

This process which meets Soil Association
standards was discovered in Switzerland in the early 1930’s. It
was rediscovered 40 years later and a new facility was built in Vancouver,
Canada, the only Swiss Water processing facility in the world.
The nature of the process allows 99.9% of
the caffeine to be removed, but leaves 100% of the coffee flavour.
The Process.
By using flavour charged water through pressurised containers the green
coffee is flushed of its caffeine content.
By using a Fairtrade Coffee the final decaffeinated product thus maintains
it certification.
